Felbro Food Products was established in 1946 by two brothers, Maury and Sid Feldmar, with the desire to build a business based on quality products and family values.
In the emerging California fast food industry of the early post-WWII era, pre-made products of superior quality and consistency were in high demand. Sensing this opportunity, the brothers used their experience in the food industry to build a company that would provide these products to local chains and distributors.
Felbro started out in a small storefront with one kitchen on Venice Blvd. in Culver City, where Maury and a small staff of cooks made the products while Sid worked with the customers. Maury’s wife Francis kept the books and Sid’s wife Betty ran the office, which truly made Felbro family-owned and operated. The company grew slowly and steadily in the 1950s and 1960s, adding product lines and production facilities.
In the late 1960s and early 1970s, the current owners Mike and Bart Feldmar (Maury’s and Sid’s sons), joined their parents, learning the trade as well as bringing new products and fresh ideas to the company. Along the way, the two cousins carried on the tradition of high-quality products, family values, and personal and strategic relationships with customers.
